Chris Williams Debut posted on 10/29/2008
The big question around Halas Hall, is whether or not, first round draft pick Chris Williams will make his season debut on Sunday. Williams who has yet to take a snap in an NFL contest (due to back surgery), was drafted number 14 overall in this years draft. Williams was expected to be a huge contributor on the this offensive line that struggled mightely a season ago.
Surprisingly, the line has done quite well (at least better than anticipated) and has helped Kyle Orton establish himself as the quarterback that the Bears have waited for. It just goes to show you that the players you never hear about, are the ones that will make or break your team. Tom Brady would not be "Mr. Perfect" if he had a make-shift line protecting (or lackthereof).
Williams isn't even sure when his debut is going to occur and neither does Coach Smith. Hopefully, this Sunday the Bears can establish a huge lead (it's the Lions after all) going into the second half so we can all see who we really drafted with our number one pick. On a side note, why do you (Bears) draft an offensive linemen who (and you knew) had back problems. If Williams disappoints and doesn't perform as well as other linemen taken in the draft, Jerry Angelo is going to have some explaining to do. But then again he still has his job after drafting Benson and countless other high draft day "busts".

Will's Watchlist Week 9 posted on 10/28/2008
Thanks for checking in. I could make easily make this weeks "Watchlist" the same as last weeks. That would be lazy however, I'm still watching Vasher, Tillman, & Hester in terms of thier health. This "Watchlist" is going to focus more on performance and less on health. Let's get things started, shall we?
1. Tommie Harris- What's up with this guy? Though he has been injury prone his entire career, he has been a force to be reckoned with. After last year, Harris was paid, in his words "a kings ransom." Thus far, Tommie has been a huge disappointment with only one sack in seven games. The good news, is that Tommie got that sack, in the last game (Vikings) before the bye week. It has been well documented that Tommie has been going through some trouble off the field with having a child out of wedlock and his fight with Coach Lovie Smith over the release (and good friend) Mark Bradley. Let's hope that Harris has faced his demons and is ready to kick it into gear for the second half.

Showin' some tight end love... posted on 10/23/2008
I just wanted to give our tight end unit a little love in this blog. When you have Greg Olson and Des Clark both on the field you are going to cause some serious mis-matches. These guys can flat out play. Olson is going to be a star in this league and a large part of that is because he's so versatile. Olson alone is a deep threat with his speed but he can also get the yards after the catch. He isn't perfect however. In his short career he has established himself as a fumbler of the football. With time, Olson will improve on his ball handling and will blossom into a huge part of the offense.
On the other side, you have the old man who was converted from the wide-out position. Clark's presence is still felt on and off the football field. He brings the experience to the position and is a great mentor to Olson and third string TE Kellen Davis (who looks like he's going to be a great TE too). Clark had a gaffe in week 7 against the Vikings when he fumbled on the one yard line, but luckily Rashied Davis was there to fall on it for the touchdown.

The Watchlist : Week 8 posted on 10/22/2008
Okay guys, I'm going to try doing something new in order to keep my blogs fresh. I call it Will's Watchlist. Each week, I will give three Bears to keep an eye on for the following week. This week is easy, since the Bears are on their bye week.
Lets get things started:
1: Nathan Vasher- This guy has been injured for the majority of the last two years. Earlier this year, Nate had surgery on his hand and when he announced that he would play on Sunday (he didn't by the way) not once but two weeks in a row, I began to worry. Coach Smith stated that Vasher was excused from the game against the Vikings due to an infection. Here's to hoping Nate can get healthy and be ready for our next game against the win-less Lions.
2. Charles Tillman- What can I say? This man is a force to be reckoned with.... when he's healthy. Peanut has left the last two games with a shoulder injury. Combine his injury with Vasher's and you have yourself quite the predicament. Although we made it through the Vikings game without both of our starting corners, I feel a lot better when we have all of our veterans on the field for the majority of the game. Tillman's injury lands him number two on Will's Watchlist.

Bears sign veteran safety Terrence Holt posted on 10/22/2008
Due to the number of injuries to the secondary, the Bears signed veteran safety Terence Holt to the 53 man roster.
Earlier the Bears placed, Zach Bowman on the injured reserved list. Bowman is out for the season with a bicep injury. It's a shame too, because Bowman was just signed off of the practice squad and had a game to remember. Bowman scored a touchdown on special teams and sealed the victory against the Vikings with a game ending interception. This is even more remarkable due to the fact that Bowman was already injured and reportedly talked himself into the game. That's something that we don't see very often anymore.
Terence Holt, who was drafted by the Lions in '03 will number 32. Holt has also played for the Cardinals and Panthers.
